Leading by ethical example

4th Annual Fancy Rat Show
Saturday, June 14, 2008
Naperville, Illinois

Something New This Year!

This year, the members of NIRO will be hosting a backyard show and barbecue.  The general public will not be invited but the show will be open to exhibitors who have entered rats and who have practiced proper quarantine.  Points will be earned and titles will be awarded!  The aim of this show is to enhance the fun and camaraderie amongst club members and other rat lovers while still focusing on ethical breeding, rat showing and ownership.

While this show may be smaller in scale, the members of NIRO are very excited about it and encourage all NIRO members, their friends and adopters to join us for a relaxed and fun-filled day.

Very Important!
There will be NO rats for sale at the show site unless prior arrangements for adoption have been made and all parties involved have observed proper quarantine regulations and signed a quarantine agreement.  Only rats who are on the "master list" will be allowed on the show site. If any person is found with a rat(s) that is not listed on the master list (list which NIRO will have on hand naming all the rats that have been entered in the show and/or those that are on their way to a new home based on prior arrangements and consent  from NIRO), that person(s) will be asked to leave the show site immediately.  NIRO practices a no tolerance attitude/approach to those who fail to follow quarantine and show rules.

Rats entered in the show will only be handled by their owners (or person who is signed on to show the rat), and the judges.  Stewards will be responsible for placing show boxes on the table but will not be touching the rats. Exhibitors will not pass their rats back and forth amongst each other.

Please remember that these strict guidelines have been put in place with the health of all rats and ratteries in mind.  The safer the show site, the more enjoyable the show will be for all who attend.

NIRO will require a 29-day quarantine prior to the show date.  Detailed information on show quarantine requirements can be found here.
